THE GLOBAL YOUTH ADVENTURES PROGRAM
Our Global Youth Adventures Program works closely with both government and non-government secondary schools to offer students an unforgettable and life changing educational travel experiences for schools.
Your school group adventure may include an element of physical activity, such as trekking or cycling, and this may be combined with a Service-Learning component, typically a Community Project, that benefits an underprivileged community in a developing country.
Our core philosophy has always been to get out of the bus and explore the destination under your own steam – and kids have plenty of that! Our aim is to find safe routes that are away from busier trails – and crowds – so that students can immerse themselves into an authentic experience.
Active Educational Trips & Adventures
We endorse the value of an active, physical educational experience.
Our most popular means of travel is on foot, trekking through a range of natural landscapes from mountain foothills to rain forests and bush trails. Along the way we may encounter remote communities, monasteries and ruins, as well as a range of flora and fauna endemic to the region.
We will observe delicate eco-systems and interact with ethnically diverse cultures and come away with a sense of how to co-exist harmoniously in these environments. If the activity chosen is trekking you will be expected to carry a day-pack that holds your requirements for the day. Some challenging treks may require you to carry a full pack. Trekking days can range from easy 3 hour per day rambles to more rigorous 7 hour a day trek.
We will tailor a trip to suit the desired degree of difficulty and level of experience of the group. All our adventures are graded to the physical rigours of the trip.
Simple Planet Travel and Tours Ltd advises against the use of mobile phones on all of our school trips abroad.
Our World Youth Adventures Program is able to develop safe and engaging school group itineraries for students to the world’s most exciting destinations on every continent on earth.
Our company is committed to responsible travel and true sustainability. Well-defined environmental plans exist on every adventure across all continents.
We believe that travel should be as rewarding for the host community as it is for the traveller. We aim to maximise the positive benefits of tourism for host communities, including training and employing local staff, using local suppliers and supporting the development of sustainable local businesses.
We also support the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs). Each of our Service-Learning Community Projects is designed with the Sustainable Development Goals in mind.
When it comes to the school of travel, no other company can match our experience, range of destinations or trip quality.
If you require a trip to be designed with a specific theme or destination in mind to help reinforce a subject, then talk to our educational travel experts about tailoring an experiential learning outside the classroom trip customised to your school’s needs.
Experiential learning involves students taking part in a first-hand experience, and for many subjects the most effective way to engage students in a topic is to travel to a destination which features elements of the curriculum that you are studying and coming face to face with the subject.
Biology, Geography, STEM, Religious Studies, History, Languages, Music, Politics – we can help you bring subjects to life by exploring places relevant to what you are teaching. Our educational travel experts can further enhance your school group trip by adding in service-learning programs, trekking, cycling or other activities to help students engage even further with a destination.
Our team will work closely with you to tailor an itinerary around a specific curriculum, providing an invaluable educational opportunity to learn outside the classroom.
A Simple Planet Travel and Tours Ltd Service-Learning Project is a wonderful way to provide your students with the opportunity to combine experiential learning and community project opportunities which complement your school’s curriculum.
Our Service-Learning Projects for schools offer a unique way to experience genuine cultural interaction while also providing real tangible benefits to underprivileged communities. Every Service-Learning project is guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
For example, working in remote villages side by side with the locals, your students can help to improve the lives of other people or the environment in a meaningful and sustainable way. The affected communities you’ll assist receive little or no government funding. Coupled with the dire economic predicament of these areas, the students work will be invaluable.
We work very closely with local communities around the world to provide cultural awareness immersions, some exclusive to our school programs and including travel into restricted areas.
The cultural student journeys are an opportunity to understand the land through the natives’ eyes. Our experiences will help students understand a culture going back tens of thousands of years and one possibly very different to your own lives.
We spend time on country with the local communities, caring for the land just as their ancestors did. The local peoples have learned to adapt to their environment and to live in harmony with their natural world.
All our indigenous immersions programs include a welcome to country with local traditional landowners and focus on connection to country. They provide a real insight into one of the longest surviving cultures on the planet.
Our indigenous immersion programs can include elements of indigenous arts, bush tucker, animal tracking, ancient tradition, identifying medicinal plants and living off the land. Your school group will participate in team building, learn about connection to country, storytelling, engage in physical activity and hear about the deep respect for the environment.
We can explore key areas, rich in the native’s heritage and hear stories come to life that have been passed down from generation to generation.
Our school educational travel programs operate in some of the world’s most pristine and beautiful environments, and encounter many of the world’s most fascinating cultures.
By choosing to experience the world with us you are supporting true sustainability, helping to protect and preserve the natural environment, culture and wildlife for future generations to enjoy.
